La Defense district

La Defense district, is a business area and was named after a statue by Louis Ernest Barrias. Its skyscrapers are visible from Paris and they are a good example of the evolution of modern architecture during the last sixty decades. A marble arch was built in 1989, under president François Mitterrand, on the central part of the historical axis. Mainly pedestrianised, it is a very peaceful area where the largest collection of contemporary open-air artworks in the world can be admired. Works from reknowned artists like Calder, Miro, Cesar, Takis and a lot more. A guided tour will bring you through the labyrinth of towers.

My favorite walking tours

Join me on one of my favourite walking tours around the Marais quarter and its amazing old mansions. The Place des Vosges is undoubtedly the most magnificent square of Paris to me.

The covered passages of Paris with its old fashioned shops and architecture dating back to the 19th century show reminiscence of French writers like Maupassant, Proust or Colette.
