Luxury and sensuality

woman crossing the champs elysees avenue

Internationally known as a symbol of wealth and luxury this triangle-shaped quarter, called the « golden triangle » is delimited by three prestigious avenues : the Champs-Elysees, Montaigne and Georges V. There are an incredible number of fashion designers stores in a small area. At the origin of the Champs Elysées there was a queen, Mary of Medici. Then it was considered very early as a very prestigious place to live in, so many women established their residence here, among them a courtesan called Comtesse de la Païva. Mata Hari, customer of the hotel Plaza Athenee, was a spy during World War One. Among other famous celebrities we will talk about Josephine Baker at the Champs-Elysees theatre. Coco Chanel was in the audience at the new ballet created by Igor Stravinsky. For more stories about the golden triangle follow a guided tour.
