Former village outside Paris until 1860, located on top of the hill overlooking the city, Montmartre is a must-see quarter. Since the 19th century the area was frequented by many artists such as Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso and Modigliani who settled here. The white-domed basilica of the Sacre Cœur overlooking the capital is the symbol of the district and deserves a detour. Nearby, the square called « place du Tertre », where painters and caricaturists spread their easels, is the major curiosity. Two options for the guided tours : the highlights of Montmartre and a tour related to astonishing women who lived there.

My favorite walking tours
Join me on one of my favourite walking tours around the Marais quarter and its amazing old mansions. The Place des Vosges is undoubtedly the most magnificent square of Paris to me.
The arcades of Paris with its old fashioned shops and architecture dating back to the 19th century show reminiscence of French writers like Maupassant, Proust or Colette.
